Corrupt/bigoted police presence, past abusive relationship / domestic violence, past miscarriage, death (of the abusive partner)____Carmen Armando is Diego Armando's older sister.They grew up together until she left home at the age of 20 to move in with her boyfriend. Unfortunately, he turned out to be incredibly controlling and abusive in every sense of the word. His grip on her was so tight that she rarely reached out for help or even spoke about it, although some bruises didn't go entirely unnoticed by her family. She never told them the truth, though.
Some of the incidents were reported, and she did call the police herself a couple times, but nothing ever changed.About five years into the relationship during an exceptionally bad incident, she ended up killing her abuser in order to get away. Prosecuted by Manfred von Karma during his prime time, this landed her in jail for a long time.Almost two decades later, she is now released from prison and trying to figure out her life, which is a big struggle.

Her relationship with Diego

Growing up, Carmen was more than just Diego's big sister – she took care of him a lot in absence of their parents and pretty much raised him herself. They have always been very close.Carmen often had run-ins with the law, mainly due to bigoted police officers. She always tried her best to shield Diego from this. Seeing how they treat people and being powerless to help was one of the reasons Diego looked into becoming a defense attorney.When his sister was arrested for allegedly murdering her boyfriend in cold blood, he was already working for Grossberg, but he wasn't a fully-fledged lawyer yet and couldn't take on her defense. Grossberg ended up defending Carmen and lost against Von Karma in the courtroom. Ever since Diego has tried to get his sister a retrial and get her out of jail, but due to his own tragedy he ended up not being able to.Due to overcrowding, some time down the line Carmen was moved to another prison. Due to this, she didn't learn about her brother's fate and subsequent arrest until after she was released. When he stopped visiting her and didn't respond to any letters, she figured he had given up on her.***Info: All of this is subject to change if you write Diego / Godot and prefer different head canons about his childhood or motivations, just let me know!

Personality

Carmen comes off as abrasive and inapproachable, but she's got a warm personality and a good heart underneath. She cares deeply about her loved ones and has strong protective instincts.She's not good with authority and generally mistrusts people working in the justice system as it failed her so completely. But once she warms up to someone, she's deeply loyal.
